10-19 PN vs PC – District Playoffs. The Huskies gave their best effort yet against the Mustangs, but came up short 0-2 hats off to the team as they never gave up, and had many fine chances. A goal with 11 mins left in the first and second halves had the Mustangs on top, and moving on in the playoffs.
10-17 Playoffs – Varsity @ Battle Creek Lakeview. After giving up a first half goal the Huskies connected on three unanswered goals. First Grant Perrine, then two straight goals by Cameron Adams. Great victory, the Huskies will play PC at BC Lakeview on Thursday 10-19.
10-10 SMAC Finals – Varsity. Early in the first half, PC was able to make a crossing pass that found the net, for a 0-1 advantage. The Huskies never gave up, with stellar defense and raw effort, the Huskies continued to fight in this one to the last second. Several great opportunities, however in the end the Mustangs held on for the 0-1 victory. Great effort Huskies!
10-10 SMAC Finals – JV – PN JV played a fantastic game against a well balanced PN JV team. After going down 0-1 in the first half the JV Huskies fought hard, never giving up before getting multiple chances late in the 2nd half. After a penalty in the box, Onofre Vincens Fiol, placed a perfect penalty kick in the corner to tie the match 1-1 at the 5 minute mark. The Huskies continued to press and eventually tied 1-1 for the JV SMAC Championship. Well fought, and well balanced. Great effort!
10-6 PN Varsity beat Caledonia, knocking off its 2nd top 10 opponent in as many weeks. The 1-0 game winner came on an exceptional individual effort when John McIntosh, rushed the goalie, blocked the clearing pass, tracked down the ball, and made a perfect centering pass to a crashing Tucker Anson for the header. PN displayed some of its best team work of the year in this one. Congrats for a well fought match!
10-6 PN JV fought an excellent Caledonia Team to a draw. Excellent Defense and Solid goal keeping kept PN in this one throughout the game. The Jr Huskies a few fantastic opportunities as the Offense continued to make the most of their opportunities.
10-4 PN Varsity scored midway thru the first on a goal by Trent Wojcik, and added a late first half goal on a beautiful header by Josh Hartman. Excellent work in the goal by Ryan Ingersoll clinched a shutout victory for the Huskies.
10-4 PN JV played Kalamazoo Central to a 2-0 victory. Goals by Onofre Vincens Fiol in the first half, and Brendan Jessalunas in the 2nd half gave PN the victory. A hard fought game with excellent passing and team work.
9-28 PN Varsity gave up an early goal on a beautiful play by the visiting Giants. From that point on the Huskies played spirited soccer, with 3 unanswered goals for a 3-1 victory. First a top corner loose ball by Tucker Anson. Second, a beautiful cross from Trent Wojcik to a Grant Perrine header for a 2-1 lead, and finally a finishing blow from Trevor Towghi gave the Huskies a convincing 3-1 victory.
9-28 PN JV played Kalamazoo Central to a 2-1 victory. An early goal by Onofre Vincens Fiol on a penalty kick put the junior Huskies up 1-0 a lead they will hold till halftime. Midway thru the 2nd half Onofre Vincens Fiol made a beautiful pass to a streaking Brendan Jessalunas for a 2-0 lead, with about 5 minutes to play KC got a goal, but the Huskies held on for a 2-1 victory.
9-20 PN Varsity vs PC. Although this contest did not go the Huskies way, there was a hard fought effort all night by the Huskies. PC had a 1-0 halftime lead, and scored a second mid way thru the second half. PN had many solid offensive efforts, only to be well defended by the Mustangs. A third goal at the 8 minute mark left the Huskies in a large deficit, however they did not give up. With 5 to play a great effort by Grant Perrine was rewarded with a penalty kick and he scored, bringing the end score to 1-3. Great effort Huskies.
9-20 PN JV @ PC played made a great effort to hold off PC until 6 minutes to go when PC scored the game winner winning 1-0. Great Defensive efforts kept the score from being bigger. Aayush Mohanty and Malcolm Gaynor with incredible efforts assisting in saving multiple scores, as well as a solid Goalie performance by Mike Lanka.
9-16 PN Varsity won the East Lansing Invitational with victories against Dewitt and Saginaw Heritage. In the first Epic match an incredible effort by Grant Perrine put the Huskies up 1-0 with 10 to play. Dewitt responded with a penalty kick with 4 mins remaining. A shootout ensued where both teams score 4 goals. The 2nd sudden death shootout had the Huskies winners at 8-7. The Huskies went on to win the second game against Saginaw Heritage 2-1, with goals from Trent Wojcik, and Grant Perrine, to capture the East Lansing Invitational.
9-16 PN JV played two close matches losing 1-2 to Dewitt, and 0-1 to Saginaw heritage. After a slow start in the first game against Dewitt, a rally fell short. In the 2nd game the Junior Huskies held a good deal of possession but couldn’t get one in the goal, due to a tough Saginaw Heritage Defense. Gene Placido with the only goal for the Jr Huskies on the day.
9-14-17 PN Varsity played to a 0-0 first half tie, before breaking lose in the 2nd half. First Chase Valentine from Anson, then Paige to Anson, and then a third score on a corner by Towghi, Ben Bitterman awarded the goal. A great finish for the Varsity after a slow first half start.
9-14-17 PN JV started quick with early goals by Onofre Vincens Fiol, and Nick Lesman, for an early 2-0 lead, followed by a 3rd goal by Chinsu Lee for a 3-0 halftime lead. 2 more goals in the 2nd half by Jackson Valentine, and Isaiah Spillers the JV went on to win a lopsided 5-1 game at Niles. Great efforts all around, as the JV controlled possession throughout this event.
9-12-17 PN Varsity played a stout Lakeshore to a 0-0 tie in the first half with many defensive stops and a few nice opportunities of their own. The second half produced 3 lancer goals, and only 1 the Huskies, Trevor Towgi, to fall 1-3 to a stout Lancer squad.
9-12-17 PN JV with a 4-2 victory over Lakeshore. A back and forth first half which featured a goal by Ammar Khara off the far post, and one by the Lancers, was characterized as one with lots of change in possession with both teams sharing period of supremacy, and opportunities. The second half started the same way with goals by Onofre Vincens Fiol, and a Free Kick by the Lancers. Flat play ensued thru much of the second half, when a stoppage of play produced stern guidance from Coach Kaileb. From there the Junior Huskey’s went on a tear with another set of goals by Onofre Vincens Fiol, and Keegan Steil, and stout Defense, by the back line and goalie Mike Lanka. Brendan Jessalunas with 2 Assists in the Victory.
9-9-17 – PN Varsity with a strong performance against Mattawan the Defending State Champs. On a corner kick midway thru the first half Jacob Shufelt found the corner of the net to give PN the 1-0 lead. With the best performance to date, the Varsity Huskies, held possession advantages throughout the rest of the game, a couple incredible defensive plays, and a few fantastic Goal Stops by Ryan Ingersoll sealed the 1-0 victory for the Huskies!
9-9-17 PN JV with a 5-1 victory over the Mattawan JV. This one was intense from the very beginning, with PN taking an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Onofre Vincens Fiol, and holding an intense first half lead into the second half. PN scored on a nice goal by Christian Shaman, then gave up a goal on a penalty kick to move the score to 2-1. Then the PN Offense kicked into high gear with 3 straight goals from Nick Lesman, Christian Shaman, and Keegan Steil to seal a 5-1 Victory, with it’s strongest performance of the season.
9-7-17 – PN Varsity with a gutsy performance draws 2-2 with SJ. After a strong start by the Huskies SJ took a 2-1 lead 15 minutes into the 2nd half. The Huskies fought back with several opportunities finally scoring on a beautiful pass and strike with 13 minutes left in the game. The Huskies fought hard throughout the contest and finished strong.
9-7-17 – PN JV with a 3-0 win vs the SJ JV. The JV controlled this one throughout the game with possession and teamwork. 1-0 at halftime, the Huskies, controlled upwards of 75% of the possession in this contest. Strong performance by all, with the defense not allowing a single shot on goal.
