Wednesday, August 31, PN (JV) vs. Mattawan (JV)
There was a little bit of a lapse on the kick off and the Cats scored within the first minute. After a little back and forth, a determined effort by Collin Sweet in the box resulted in a dastardly foul at the 13 minute mark. Collin made them pay dearly by converting and tying the score. Ten minutes later, it was the Hiroya Abe show at the 24 minute mark a nice finish from the right to far post…still not satisfied… Abe followed it up with another score at the 29 minute mark to complete the Huskie scoring for the half.
Mattawan came out aggressively in the second half and put a lot of pressure on the Huskies. A solid defense held the line. Play continued in the middle of the field, up and back repeatedly until the ball ended up with Ben Strine. Ben kept his head up and made a perfect pass to Collin Sweet who made a slashing run… after which he had the Mattawan keeper at his mercy. Collin buried the shot ending the scoring for the match, Huskies 4, Wildcats 1. In any match where the opposition is held to just one goal, special recognition must go to the tenacious Huskie defense, keepers and back linemen.
