MHSAA District

Portage Northern Huskies faced their cross town rivals the Mustangs of Portage Central at Kalamazoo Loy Norrix.

As usual it uas a typical Northern/Central soccer match. Intense and hard fought unfortunately the Huskies were victums of a late goal and succumbed to the Mustangs by a 0 - 1 final score.

Conference Tournament Championship

On a cold, blustery night the Huskies matched against the St. Joe Bears for the championship.

The score after regulation time and two overtime periods was still tied at 0 - 0.

Unfortunately, the Bears prevailed in the shoot-out.

 


Conference Tournament - Game # 2

The varsity Huskies defeated the Kalamazoo Central Maroon Giants by a score of 4 - 1

The victory avenged an earlier loss of 0 - 1 to the K Central team.

This victory pits the Huskies against the St. Joe Bears on Thursday for the Conference Championship. The game is at St. Joe

Unfortunately our JV squad lost to the Maroon Giants JV team by a score of 0 - 1


Conference Tournament - Game # 1

Second soccer match in a row which was a nail-biter for the Husky varsity.

The Niles Vikings brought their "A" game to the field that night. They gave the Huskies all they could handle.

The Huskies turned up the heat in the second half, but it wasn't until there was only 12 minutes left in the match before they were able to put a goal into the Vikings net.

The last minutes were a series a attacks and counter attacks by both teams. Final score favored PN Huskies 1-0

While the varsity had a very hard fought, intensive match the JV squad had an easy time against the Niles JV squad coasting to a 6 - 0 victory


Crossover - West

A fierce soccer match versus Mattawan's Wildcats requird Penalty Kicks to determine the winner.

Northern's varsity trailed during the match and finally tied the score at 2-2 with a minute and 34 seconds remaining.

Two 15 minute overtime periods could not produce a winner.

It took nine shooters (5 PN - 4 Mattawan) before the Huskies could walk away with a 3-2 victory !

The Huskies JV squad won their match 1-0


The Huskies varsity team defeated the Battle Creek Central Bearcats 8 - 0

While the junior varsity team also won by a score of 5 - 0

MATCH SUMMARY: PNHS JV vs Kalamazoo Central JV

September 19, 2006

On a cold, rainy night at Kalamazoo Central, the Portage Northern High School Junior Varsity team earned a hard fought "slippery" 1-1 draw.

After a rather tentative 1st half that ended scoreless, the intensity of Portage Northern's team increased tremendously in the second half.

After giving up a goal to Kalamazoo Central in the 46th minute, the Junior Huskies stormed the KC keeper with wave after wave of attacks in the last third of the game.

Cody Cattell scored his "team-leading" 3rd goal of the season in the 53rd minute to draw even with the Knights.

Relentless attacks by the Huskies failed to score another goal, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.


Our Husky Varsity defeated the Mustangs of Portage Central in overtime in a classic crosstown rivalry soccer match 2 - 1

The JV Huskies made it two shut outs in a row by besting the PC Mustang JV 2 - 0


The Huskie Varsity rebounded with a victory in a hard fought match against the Wildcats of Mattawan HS 1 - 0

Our JV team came into their own by shuttin out the Wildcats JV 4 - 0


Our Varsity took a loss to the Division 1 No. 2 rated East Kentwood Falcons 2 - 3

The JV team lost another one goal differential match to

JV Falcons by a score of 1 - 2


Kalamazoo Loy Norrix Knights varsity fell to the PN Huskies varsity 2 - 1 in O/T

Our JV took another one goal loss scored late in the match 0 - 1


The Huskies Varsity came out on top against the South Haven Rams 2 - 0

While the JV team was lost to the Rams JV 1 - 2


PN HUSKIES Varsity beat the Chiefs of Okemos 2 - 0

Our JV team defeated the Chiefs JV 1 - 0


HUSKIES Varsity Defeated Holland West Ottawa 5 - 4

HUSKIES JV lost to Holland West Ottawa JV 2 - 1
